BookTheif 1/16/12

The book starts with Lesial's parents dieing, so she and her baby brother are sent to a foster home, but on the way there her baby brother dies, and without the baby brother the foster home doesn't want her. Then she gets moved to a different home, her new family wants her to go to school. She is very bad at reading and writing so, she stays up very late every night to learn and her papa comes up and tells her a story about how he lived in a war because he tripped and didn't go to the battle field that day. But his friend dies that day so he tells his Friend's family that he died. He also told them if they need help ask. So then they send there Jewish son over to hide with them and Lesial and the Jewish boy become friends. They have a good time but there to loud and so the family next to them see the Jewish boy, and call the police. The police come and take him away. He's then sent to a concentration camp, Because of the camps America comes and bombs them and since Lesials lives close to one of the camps everyone that she knows dies.

I think the book is great. The author did a really good job on showing what it was like to be a German girl in world war 2. I also  love how the book is narrative by death it just gives the book a huge leap on what a other book would be if it was narrative by one person. I think the only part that could be better is the ending it's really sad and the worst, it's everyone dieing when it could have been like 50 other better things. I liked the style of writing being in 3 person omitoin and it's most likely one of my favorite books of all time!!!

The Book Theif (Book Report)

  • I think the title of the book Book Thief Is important because it's two things, a summery and a lie. It also doesn't give in to what the book is about, yet. The book is about stealing books, but their is no way you would have known that until you read most of the book. It could be called sooo many things. It's also a lie because the stealing in the book is so little, compared to the other things going on, (I mean Hitler is taking over the world at this point). So if you think this book is still about a thief you right, and wrong.
  • I think that this book's view is one of the Rare, Third person omnicient. I think this because the book is being led by many people and many thoughts one of these people is the infamous Death himself. I like this style of writing because if I'm right then all of the story lines will come together, I also like how it narrated by Death because he throws in a bit of humor here and there. I also like it because since Death is all seeing, he pulls you along and it makes me seem like I'm one of the spirits (dead people) that he carries along to Heaven pulling you back and forth.
  • I think this book has a lot of themes. I think the main one is to stand up to a bigger people in this book, You see kids standing up to bullies, you also see a small Jew boxing Hitler. I think there is also a lot of friendship in this book, and how friends can help you when your down, these people in the book are all poor and in Germany when Hitler's trying to take over the world. I think that some times it can be hard to find the friends and the helping, but if you take apart the whole story you see that friends are in all the main parts in the story
